Our Extra-curricular activities
Enriching Experiences Beyond the Classroom
At our Trust, we believe that education extends far beyond the curriculum. Across our schools, pupils enjoy a rich and varied programme of extra-curricular activities designed to inspire, challenge, and nurture their personal growth. From Forest School sessions and creative clubs for our primary pupils to international opportunities like the Turing Scheme for secondary students, we are proud to offer experiences that broaden horizons and build lifelong skills. Whether it's sports, music, outdoor learning, or global travel, every child has the chance to discover new passions and thrive.
Below, we highlight just a couple of the wonderful experiences which are offered by some of our schools. To find out more about what each individual school offers, please visit its website directly.
Forest School Adventures
Many of our primary pupils benefit from regular Forest School sessions, where they explore nature, build dens, learn outdoor skills, and develop confidence through hands-on experiences. These sessions encourage curiosity, teamwork, and resilience, all while fostering a deep connection with the natural world. Whether it's pond dipping, fire lighting, or storytelling under the trees, Forest School is a cherished part of our pupils’ week.
Catholic Social Teaching in Action
Catholic Social Teaching is embedded in our extra-curricular provision, with many clubs and activities designed to promote service, community, and care for others. From charity fundraising and eco initiatives to social justice projects and chaplaincy-led groups, pupils are encouraged to live out Gospel values in practical and meaningful ways. You can find out more about this aspect of our schools’ life on each of their websites and within the Catholic Life section of the Trust website.
What is the Turing Scheme?
The Turing Scheme is a UK government initiative that funds international study and work placements for students. It aims to develop global awareness, boost employability, and provide life-changing experiences by enabling young people to learn in different cultural and professional environments.
International Work Experience: St Simon Stock Catholic School
Students from St Simon Stock Catholic School in Maidstone and Ursuline College have taken part in the Turing Scheme, travelling to France, Spain, Belgium, and Germany for fully funded work placements. These experiences allowed students to work in local companies, gaining valuable insights into different industries while immersing themselves in new cultures and languages.
During their time abroad, students demonstrated independence and adaptability, overcoming language barriers and forming meaningful connections with colleagues and peers. The programme helped them grow both professionally and personally, preparing them for success in an increasingly globalised world.
